New Delhi: Google has the curtains on its ambitious project to digitize the world’s drawn newspaper archives. Established in 2008, the project currently being digitized material from nearly 2,000 newspapers.
“… we are an initiative for more old newspapers accessible and searchable online to make digitized by partnering with newspaper publishers to millions of pages of news archives, ” Google had announced at the launch of the project.
While the existing archive of digitized messages remain online and searchable, the company has taken out all the resources for development and will not scan new proposals from its newspaper partners.
Give, according to the Boston Phoenix, one of the newspapers that the disclosure of its archives were Google for scanning and indexing of online, e-maiGoogle and its partners on Thursday announced it is shutting down the project. The company said that it wants to focus instead on “new projects to help the industry, such as Google in one pass, a platform that publishers sell their content and subscription allows directly from their own websites.”
